Fall is here! I thought I wasn't quite ready to let go of summer, but we have been enjoying some gorgeous fall days. I also have some fun warmer weather travel plans coming up in the next month, so I guess I'm not letting go of summer yet!
Budapest was the final stop on our ten day trip through central Europe. We had a fantastic time in both Prague and Vienna, and Budapest turned out to be an amazing way to end our vacation.
How is it back to school time already! Even though I'm not a student and don't have any kids heading back to school, September still always feels like a fresh start. It was a busy August, and I have to admit that the summer kind of passed me by this year. I sadly realized this weekend that I haven’t been swimming even once! Hopefully we'll get a few more weeks of summery weather, but I'm also a little excited for all the fall things (and Halloween - the most wonderful time of the year!). Here are a few updates and favourites from August.
I'm always looking for new ways to simplify my life and streamline my everyday routines. As I mentioned in my post about morning and evening routines, I usually take breakfast to work on weekdays - especially since starting my time restricted eating experiment. I typically throw this together on Sunday and start off the week feeling really proud of myself for being so organized...
One of my challenges for March is to try to be more mindful of my eating. Like any mindfulness practice, this is simple but not easy! While the idea of enjoying a meal without any distractions sounds straightforward, it is hard to avoid mindlessly reaching for your phone, snacking in front of the tv or just getting caught up in random thoughts.
How is January already over!? This month flew by! I'm going to try and get into the habit of doing a monthly review post to keep on track with my wellness goals and also any random favourites, finds or fun memories from the month! Here we go...
Have you heard of time restricted eating? I was introduced to the idea last year when I first started following the work of Dr. Rhonda Patrick. Dr. Patrick is a biomedical scientist who runs a great website and produces podcasts and videos about health, nutrition longevity and aging - so many interesting topics! One of her repeat podcast interview guests is Dr. Satchin Panda who researches circadian rhythm and the health benefits of time restricted eating. Time restricted eating is basically a form of intermittent fasting, and appears to me to be by far the easiest method to follow. When I learned about the opportunity to participate in an app-based research study I was in!
