It has been feeling a bit chillier than I’d like these past few weeks and I’ve been dreaming about a sunny vacation. Maybe something like this quick getaway to the desert that we managed to squeeze in back in November…
This was not a busy, see-the-sights, do-all-the-things type of trip. More like a sleep in, read by the pool, take a yoga class (or golf if you’re into that sort of thing), laze around type of holiday. It was just what I needed.
The La Quinta Waldorf Astoria Resort is a picture perfect venue for this type of low key getaway. It is seriously photogenic, and has 41 pools! We barely left the resort…
We stayed in one of the historic vintage casitas which was cute, cosy and comfortable. The resort was built in 1926 and has an interesting history as a getaway for Hollywood celebrities. Some of the more famous guests are noted in small plaques around the property.
There are a few great restaurants on site, and the resort is also close to tons of dining options only a short drive away. We really enjoyed the on site Adobe Grill restaurant and ended up eating dinner there a couple times.
I managed to get to the gym a few times and even fit in a couple yoga classes. The fitness facility is a decent size, with more than enough equipment and the yoga classes are complimentary. Love it when fitness classes are included!
Obviously the Palm Springs area is a super popular retirement destination so tennis, pickle ball and golf are a big focus at this resort. Driving range access is also included in the resort stay (= very happy husband)!
Overall it was a fantastic spot for a relaxing, healthy-ish vacation and I actually came home feeling rejuvenated. That hardly ever happens after a vacation…
What type of vacation are you dreaming of – lazy or busy? Or maybe a little of both? I’d love to hear from you in the comments.
Thanks so much for reading!
We’ve booked for December and I’m already looking forward to it!
